Mesothelioma Litigation
Wife of deceased UK man continues fight for mesothelioma compensation
Karen Dance, the wife of a UK man who succumbed to malignant mesothelioma in September, is planning to continue her husband's battle for compensation for the deadly disease, the Evening Chronicle reports.According to the news provider, Dance's husband, James Johnston, was diagnosed with mesothelioma last June and ultimately lost his fight in September at the age of 64.
An inquest was told recently that Johnston was exposed to asbestos on a regular basis during his career, which included working in the shipbuilding industry. The use of asbestos was popular in shipbuilding and construction due to its utility as an insulator and resistance to fire.
Dance, who is currently fighting her own battle against skin cancer, was named the executor of Johnston's will after he died, according to the news source.
"He wanted me to fight for compensation in his memory and that's what I intend to do" Dance said. "I can’t grieve properly because of the legal work."
In addition to mesothelioma, exposure to asbestos can cause lung cancer and asbestosis.
