Mesothelioma Litigation

Widow of UK man who died from mesothelioma seeking compensation
The widow of a UK man who died after receiving cancer treatment for malignant mesothelioma is seeking compensation of up to £150,000, ThisIsSussex.co.uk reports.

The woman, Mary Feasey, is allegedly blaming her husband's former employers, chocolate maker Sun D'Or, for the man's death and is seeking damages, the news provider said.

George Feasey, 82, passed away after developing the rare form of cancer after he was exposed to asbestos while working for the company, according to a High Court. The court said that Feasey was being treated with a drug that prevented blood clotting when he fell in November 2008 and died from a brain hemorrhage as a result of having been prescribed too much of the drug.

According to the court, Feasey was allegedly exposed to a significant amount of asbestos on the job because he had to clean two large industrial ovens, which both contained the dangerous mineral. The man also allegedly worked in the boiler room, which included pipes lined with asbestos-containing insulation materials.

In addition to malignant mesothelioma, exposure to asbestos can cause asbestosis and lung cancer. According to the World Health Organization, approximately 107,000 people die each year as a result of asbestos-related diseases.
