Asbestos Litigation

UK widow receives asbestos compensation three years after husband's death
The widow of a UK man who died as a result of asbestos exposure in June 2008 was recently awarded £200,000 in asbestos compensation from the man's former employer.

According to the Slough & South Bucks Observer, Pamela Holliday decided to take legal action against the Tretol Group, where her husband Ralph worked between 1951 and 1954. The company initially declined to accept responsibility, claiming the man had never worked at its factory, the news source said.

However, Pamela Holliday was reportedly able to uncover evidence to prove that her husband had, in fact, worked for the company during that period.

"I'm so pleased for my husband - that's what he wanted me to do. It took his life - time that we should have been spending together," Holliday told the news source. "That is why I kept on for so long - I wanted to get justice for him. I know he would be proud of me."

Asbestos-related illness such as lung cancer, asbestosis and malignant mesothelioma kill approximately 107,000 people around the world each year, according to the World Health Organization.
