Mesothelioma Litigation

Elderly UK man awarded asbestos compensation
UK widow awarded damages after husband's mesothelioma death
The widow of a UK man who reportedly died of malignant mesothelioma related to his exposure to asbestos recently won £160,000 in damages from her husband's former employer.

According to the Rye & Battle Observer, Battle resident Brenda Clark was awarded the asbestos compensation from Anderson Construction Company, which formerly employed her husband, James.

The news source reports that James Clark was tasked with installing asbestos-containing tiles at Victoria underground station and a number of other buildings. Prior to his death, Clark claimed he often finished the work day covered in asbestos-containing dust. The company reportedly admitted liability.

In 2007, James Clark reportedly began to experience health problems, and was ultimately diagnosed with malignant mesothelioma a year later, the news source said. He succumbed to the rare cancer in 2008.

In addition to mesothelioma, asbestos exposure has been proven to cause both lung cancer and asbestosis. All told, asbestos-related illnesses kill approximately 107,000 people across the globe each year, according to the World Health Organization.
