Mesothelioma Litigation

UK man claims wife, father-in-law died after factory asbestos exposure
A UK man whose wife died last November has filed an asbestos lawsuit against a company he claims was responsible for exposing the woman's father to asbestos, subsequently leading to her indirect exposure.

The Huddersfield Daily Examiner reports that Christopher Lee claims his father-in-law, Robert Stead, worked as a packer at the former British Belting and Asbestos factory, where he was exposed to the carcinogenic material on a regular basis.

As a result, Lee contends that his wife, Pauline, died 30 years after her father because she came into contact with asbestos while playing with her father or washing his clothing. Additionally, Pauline reportedly spent some time working at the factory, though not directly with asbestos-containing materials, Lee claims.

According to the lawsuit, both Pauline and her father died of malignant mesothelioma, a rare form of cancer that attacks the tissues surrounding a majority of the body's internal organs. According to the UK newspaper the Mirror, malignant mesothelioma kills approximately one person every five hours in Britain.

In addition to mesothelioma, asbestos exposure has been associated with lung cancer and asbestosis.
