Mesothelioma Litigation

UK man awarded asbestos compensation following father's death from mesothelioma
A UK man who recently won asbestos compensation for his father's asbestos-related malignant mesothelioma death says he would trade the money to spend a few more years with him.

According to the Southport Visiter, the father, Alan Solomon, was a former dock worker who was diagnosed with mesothelioma last Christmas Eve after he reported difficulty breathing.

The 86-year-old Solomon reportedly worked at shipbuilder Cammell Laird for a number of years, and his son claimed he was never warned of the risks of asbestos exposure nor given protection from the deadly mineral fibers.

"My dad kept a record of everything he did at the docks and all the ships he had worked on so there was never a doubt that it was asbestos that caused his illness," Roger Solomon, the man's son, told the news source.

In addition to malignant mesothelioma, asbestos exposure can lead to the development of lung cancer and asbestosis. The World Health Organization estimates that such asbestos-related illnesses kill approximately 107,000 people around the world each year.
