Mesothelioma Litigation

UK factory pays compensation to family of mesothelioma victim
The family of a former worker at a Caterpillar factory in the UK has been awarded compensation after the worker died from malignant mesothelioma, an asbestos-related cancer, the Post Online reports.

Denis Aspin, 64, died from the rare cancer in November 2008, leaving behind his wife, Diane, his daughter and four stepchildren, according to the news provider.

Aspin was allegedly exposed to asbestos while he worked at the Caterpillar factory as an assembler between 1979 and 2008. Aspin claimed that he had never been warned of the dangers of asbestos. In addition to malignant mesothelioma, exposure to asbestos has been proven to cause lung cancer and asbestosis.

After his death, Aspin's wife continued his claim for compensation, and the family's mesothelioma attorneys were able to secure the payment through a settlement outside of court, according to the news source.

"This compensation will allow us to ensure that their needs are provided for, but no amount of money will ever make up for my husband’s death," Aspin's wife said.
