Mesothelioma Litigation

Two UK co-workers die of asbestos-caused malignant mesothelioma
Former rail colleagues of UK mesothelioma victim sought by widow
The widow of a former UK rail worker is seeking out her late husband's former colleagues to help her with her asbestos compensation claim.

Ronald Garwood worked for more than two-and-a-half decades at the British Rail’s depot in Dringhouses, where his wife believes he came in contact with the asbestos that caused his fatal case of malignant mesothelioma, reports the York Press.

"Mesothelioma is a deadly illness and can take up to 40 years to develop," Marjorie Garwood's asbestos attorney told the news source. "This makes it difficult to trace colleagues and insurance documents. We urge anybody who worked with Mr. Garwood at British Rail, and in particular at the carriage works, to come forward, as they may know key information which can help with our investigation."

Many blue-collar workers around the world came in contact with asbestos during their careers as the naturally occurring substance was once widely used as an insulator and flame retardant. However by the mid-1960s it was known that exposure to asbestos not only causes malignant mesothelioma but asbestosis and lung cancer as well.
