Mesothelioma Litigation

Former UK shipyard worker dies due to asbestos-related mesothelioma
Former UK shipyard worker dies due to asbestos-related mesothelioma
The daughter of a former Chepstow, UK shipyard worker who died last year of malignant mesothelioma is appealing to her mother's former co-workers to assist in the family's asbestos compensation fight.

According to the Free Press, 85-year-old Catherine Liggins died from the rare asbestos-related illness in March 2010. Now, her daughter and the family's mesothelioma attorney are seeking out those who may have worked with the woman at Fairfield Mabey shipyard in Chepstow between 1941 and 1945.

"We are very keen to talk to anyone with information about working at the shipyard during the time Catherine was there, and are keen to find out more about how she may have come into contact with asbestos," said the asbestos lawyer.

The news source reports that a spokesman for the shipyard did not want to comment on the matter.

In addition to malignant mesothelioma, exposure to asbestos has been proven to cause lung cancer and asbestosis. The World Health Organization estimates that 107,000 people around the world die each year as the result of an asbestos-related disease.
