Former UK builder died of lung cancer related to asbestos exposure from roof manufacturing
A former UK builder who was reportedly exposed to asbestos on a daily basis during his career while making roofs for farm buildings died recently as a result of lung cancer.

According to the Burnley and Pendle Citizen, an inquest heard recently that 77-year-old John Sutcliffe was tasked with cutting sheets before nailing them to wooden frames, which typically left him covered in asbestos-containing dust.

In a statement written prior to his death, Sutcliffe said that neither of the two places he worked at as a builder during his career had sinks, so he was unable to wash his hands and often ate his lunch with his hands covered in asbestos.

East Lancashire pathologist Dr. Abdul Al-Daoud reportedly conducted the post-mortem examination of Sutcliffe's body, finding that the "most likely cause" of the man's lung tumor was exposure to asbestos, according to the news source.

In addition to lung cancer, asbestos exposure has been proven to cause asbestosis and malignant mesothelioma, a rare cancer that occurs in the tissues surrounding many of the body's inner organs.
