Elderly UK man succumbs to asbestos-related malignant mesothelioma
A 96-year-old Yardley Gobion, UK man recently died of malignant mesothelioma, which was ruled an industrial disease by a coroner, according to Buckingham Today.

The news source reports that William George Lambert died at Northampton General Hospital after he contracted the rare form of cancer.

Prior to his death, Lambert had said that he was not sure where he had endured asbestos exposure, but that he thought it may have occurred during his time working as a bricklayer, according to the news source.

In addition to laying bricks, Lambert was also known as an avid gardener.

Deputy coroner Rodney Haig reportedly recorded a verdict of death by industrial disease, according to the news provider.

In addition to malignant mesothelioma - a cancer that attacks the tissues surrounding many of the body's internal organs - exposure to asbestos can cause lung cancer and asbestosis. According to the World Health Organization, approximately 107,000 people around the world die each year as a result of asbestos-related illnesses.
